In the not too distant past, MSOS (multiple system operators) relied on the customer to monitor network outages, a system that greatly contributed to cable television's reputation for inconsistent service. But that doesn't fly in the broadband age. Today's fuff service cable network must have automated processes to detect trouble, pinpoint the location and provide an inication of the trouble type.

transports four E1s over two singlemode fibres. The QFLC system can be configured to maximize
facility utilization for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint topologies.
The QFLC system can also be used for fibre ring networks for both dual-feed and single-feed
applications to a customer. The QFLC system accepts standard electrical E1 signals and can be
used in a stand-alone configuration with any approved multiplexer or network element that
generates a standard E1 (6.703 Mbps) signal. The QFLC system consists of a rack mount central
exchange (CE) chassis with up to eight QFLC modules. Sixteen protected...

Traditionally, as DSX frameworks grew, DSX chassis and the jumper rings associated
with them were added one by one. Existing cross-connect jumpers had to be fed into
the new jumper rings as the new chassis were installed. Jumper movement in any one
direction was often restricted since jumper rings were not present at unequipped chassi
positions. If jumpers were pulled too tightly across unequipped positions, feeding them
into new rings was difficult if not impossible. Also, jumpers may have cut across corner
as they transitioned from vertical to horizontal wireways....

With over a decade of proven design and
manufacturing expertise in the repeater mar-
ket, ADC provides both the DS3 Intraoffice
(IOR) and Bridging Office Repeater (BOR).
Built for reliability, modularity and density,
ADC repeaters provide the distinctive switch-
selectable capability, allowing either DS3 or
STS-1 signal rates with a flip of a switch.
The IOR enhances network flexibility by
allowing the extension of cable distance
between network elements. A typical appli-
cation for intraoffice repeaters is signal exten-
sion between multiple floors within a central
office. This repeater also extends cross-con-
nect cable distances within long line-ups on...

At ADC, we set the standards the industry follows. This is no more evident than with the introduction of
our new RZX-3 (Reduced SiZe DSX-3). No one packs more jacks, performance, flexibility, and durability into
DSX than ADC’ s new RZX-3. In fact, with the possibility of 448 midsize jack ports utilizing BNC connector
interfaces in a 7-foot rack, the new RZX-3 has more capacity than any other midsize DSX in the world.
With greater density, unparalleled robustness, unrivaled modularity, diagnostic superiority, simplified restoral
capabilities and the only solution available with modular pre-termination, you’ll find that ADC leads the way.
Again, RZX-3 sets...

VAMs can perform a variety of network
functions, including splitting, multi-
plexing, and providing access within
fiber networks, the most popular appli-
cation today is non-intrusive monitor-
ing, which lets providers proactively
troubleshoot their networks without
forcing a disruption of service on cus-
tomers.

ADC has designed a family of Fiber Loop Converters (FLCs) that provides a cost-effective
alternative to deploying service over copper while avoiding the high capital investment of
DS3 fiber optic terminals. This family includes products designed for economical distri-
bution of single or multiple DS1s.
The Quad FLC multiplexes up to four T1s for transport over two fibers at distances of 16
to 20 miles (26 to
33 km). The QFLC system consists of a rack mounted central office chassis and a wall
mounted customer premises chassis. In contrast to M12/M13 fiber optic terminal sys-
tems (FOTS), which require a variety of modules to start up operation, the...

Value is a concept that many equipment vendors talk about, especially when the subject concerns T1
service delivery equipment. But unlike some companies that just talk about value in shallow market-
ing terms or catch phrases, ADC Telecommunications demonstrates true value – manifest and
validated in actual cost savings and performance efficiencies in carrier operations. To experience this
value, however, carriers must take a fundamentally different approach to the way they deliver T1
access circuits...

Today’s transmission methods and equipment are robust and reliable and feature integrated network
monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and provisioning systems. However, public carriers and
most major private networks have historically engineered their network’s physical plant to include
access points at which they can gain quick and organized “hard-contact” access to any particular
circuit path.
Typically, these access points were comprised of analog jackfields with “line-drop-monitor” access
capability. With these jackfields, craftpersons could passively monitor and/or intrusively test circuits,
or perform circuit reconfigurations to bypass faulty paths or accommodate changes in traffic patterns....
