Abstract: Recent wide-scale deployment of APC connectors in the outside plant for FTTH initiatives has forced connector manufacturers to consider reliability issues of these connectors. Angled connectors exhibit two phenomena not found in non-angled connectors: First, the lower ferrule endface radius of angled connectors makes the connector more susceptible to permanent fiber withdrawal at elevated temperatures.
