ADC’s latest outside plant product, the
EnCaser 819, increases slot density by housing
up to 24 239-style repeaters including HDSL,
T1, ISDN, DDS and HDSL4 — an industry first.
The EnCaser 819’s rugged construction is
designed to withstand the most hostile
environmental conditions both above and
below ground. It provides an optimal thermal
environment for increased installation density
and long-term reliability. With the same
footprint installation and wiring practices as
standard 819-type housings, the EnCaser 819
may be installed as a new case or as an
upgrade to an existing 819 housing to
improve its thermal characteristics. The
EnCaser 819 allows every slot to be filled,
which can free up literally thousands of
stranded copper pairs terminated...

ADC’s Apparatus Cases are designed to protect local loop
electronics from a variety of environmental conditions. The air-filled
units can be pressurized locally or from the main feeder cable
through an air core stub. This air core stub protects the air-filled unit
from flooding with water when it is mounted in underground
manholes. The gel-filled units are intended for aboveground pole
mounting applications.

Information and control are of the utmost importance when
moving millions of people and billions of dollars in airplanes
and cargo. So it was no surprise when the Greater
Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) began planning major
changes to Lester B. Pearson International Airport, named after
the former prime minister. The airport is Canada’s busiest
and among the top 25 in the world, which is another reason
communications was a top priority.
A critical contribution to the growth and vitality of Ontario’s
capital city, the airport was previously operated by the Canadian
Government and was recently leased to the GTAA. Facing the
task of increasing passenger traffic and revenue, the GTAA began
a...

Growing the Network Without Adding New Copper
Increased Market Demand for Telcom Services
Prevailing trends for more business lines, residential multi-lines, Internet access via dial-up modems
and ADSL/G.Lite modems, and CLEC demands for unbundled loops is creating tremendous demand
on the existing last mile copper network.
Impact to Incumbent Service Provider
Due to the sheer volume of demand for copper access network, coupled with an industry wide
shortage of qualified personnel, incumbent service providers are finding it increasingly difficult to
expediently satisfy basic service demand....

ADC's Homeworx™ cable telephony system permits the
delivery of broadband services to end customers over a
hybrid fiber coax (HFC) cable plant. Only a limited amount
of spectrum is available in which to deliver a full portfolio
of services. The greater the number of services that can be
delivered within that bandwidth, the greater the revenue
that can be generated. Thus a service provider should seek
to make optimal use of his revenue-generating
commodity that is the most scarce, bandwidth. The
spectrum modulation scheme that is implemented by the
Homeworx platform makes the most efficient use of
bandwidth of any system on the market today. In addition,
the Homeworx platform provides superior...
