Synthesis, structure and cytotoxic activity against liver cancer cell (Hepg2) of some N-substituted hydrazides containing heterocycle from 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide or 2-hydroxy-5-iodobenzohydrazide

5-Chloro-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide and 2-hydroxy-5-iodobenzohydrazide were synthesized from 5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzoic acid and methyl 2-hydroxybenzoate (methyl salicylate), respectively. The reaction of these 5-halogeno-2-hydroxybenzohydrazides with appropriate heteryl methyl ketones gave eight new N-substituted hydrazides.

Improving quality of sexual and reproductive health education: Pilot intervention with lower secondary school teachers and pedagogical students in some educational institutions in Vietnam

This study examined training modules for lower secondary school teachers and pedagogical students in order to improve their knowledge and motivation in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education in their schools. An intervention study was conducted from 2013 to 2016 with 128 lower secondary school teachers and 100 pedagogical students.

Tuberculosis diagnosis by multiplex PCR technique with three target gene IS6110, IS1081, 23S rDNA at Hai Duong tuberculosis and lung disease hospital

Distribution of APOE polymorphism among primary school children in some northern provinces of Vietnam

APOE gene plays an important role in immunity and metabolism regulating, especially in lipid metabolism. Cross-sectional study was conducted on 300 children at the age of 6-11 in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, and Hai Duong province to investigate the varying distribution of the APOE genotype by Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR -RFLP) method.

The effect of three nutrient solutions including hydro greens, knop and bio life on some parameters related yield and quality of hydroponic vegetable mustard (Brassica integrifolia)

The nutrient solution is an important factor which directly effects on growth and development of hydroponic crops. Therefore, finding appropriate nutrient solution for each plant is necessary to ensure hydroponic crop yields. In this study, the effects of three common nutrient solution including Hydro Greens, Knop and Bio-life on vegetable mustard (Brasscia integrifolia) growth were evaluated.

Synergic effect of different phytase preparations in feed

In comparison to both single phytases, this combination has improved the hydrolytic catalysis of phytate in rice bran, corn and soybean powder; resulted in higher amount of inorganic phosphate released in two phases – in vitro digestion. Further studies of this combination on monogastric animals shall be carried on to confirm the synergic effect of these two phytases.

Computational analysis of the methionine sulfoxide reductase gene family in soybean (Glycine max) and their response in abiotic stresses

In this study, we used various computational approaches to analyze the promoter regions of all members of the methionine sulfoxide reductase (MSR) family. The presences of many cis- regulatory elements related to the light responsiveness, tissue specific expression, hormonal and/or stress responsiveness indicated that GmMSR gene family may be involved in the various developmental processes, perhaps in the response to environmental conditions of soybean plants.

Study the adaptive morphological characteristics of the root of natural Calamus platyacanthus Warb. ex Becc. in Tamdao national park in different soil environments

This article describes the difference of morphological and structural characteristics of the roots of Calamus plants growing in those two relatively distinct environments. The result showed that the roots of Calamus express the general characteristics of monocots; there was no secondary growth; the vasculation of the pillar demonstrated many differences to that of a general monocot.

The diversity of medicinal plants cultivated in the gardens of Thai people in Pu Luong nature reserve, Thanh Hoa province

Study on diversity of Thai People in Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Thanh Hoa province, including 40 cultivated species belonging to 37 genera of 31 families for medicine. These plant species are used in 43 traditional medicinal recipes, 14 of which consist of all cultivated plant species, for the treatments of various diseases, mostly common ones.

Evolutionary analysis and expression profiling of the SWEET sugar transporter gene family in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz)

SWEETs play important roles in various biological processes, including plant growth, development, and response to environmental stimuli. Previously, we comprehensively found a total of 28 members of MeSWEET gene family in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz). Most of MeSWEET genes had 6 exons and 5 introns. In this study, 6 MeSWEET duplicated pairs, including 5 segmental and 1 tandem duplication events were manually predicted in cassava genome.

A new derivative of butanenitrile from Euphorbia hirta L.

From the ethyl acetate extract of Euphorbia hirta L. collected in Vietnam, four isolated compounds were gallic acid, blumenol C glucoside, corchoionoside C and 3,4-dihydroxy-2-methylenebutanenitrile 4-O--D-glucopyranoside. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic data and compared with the literature.

Aqueous enzymatic extraction of camellia seed oil (Camellia oleifera) from Vietnam

Aqueous enzymatic extraction method was applied to extract oil from camellia seed (Camellia oleifera). Effects of individual enzymes, pH, reaction time and temperature were studied. Characterization and bio activity evaluation of two new acetohydrazide synthesized from curcumin and monocarbonyl curcumin analog

ince the acetohydrazides are important starting materials in organic synthesis, the complicated structures of the acetohydrazides were characterized carefully with modern physical methods including IR, NMR and MS spectra. Almost all carbons and protons of A3 and B3 were assigned. Bio-activity testes showed that both were inactive on KB cell line and against bacteria.

Simultaneous determination of selected flavour enhancers in beef Pho broth samples by chemometrics - Assisted spectrophotometry

The chemometrics-assisted spectrophotometry has been studied for simultaneous determination of monosodium glutamate (MSG), disodium guanylate (DSG) and disodium inosinate (DSI) in beef Pho broth. The effect of protein was eliminated by precipitation with ammonium sulfate.

Structure and magnetization of LaFe1-xCoxO3 perovskite nanomaterials synthesized by co precipitation method

In this study, we illustrate full data of synthesis, structural characteristic and magnetic property of Co(II)-dopped LaFe1-xCoxO3 (x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) perovskite nanoparticles by hydrolysis of La(III), Fe(III), Co(II) cations in boiling water, corresponding to precipitation of using solution of KOH 5 (w/w).

Fusing two phytase genes by PCR - Driven overlap extension

The PCR-driven overlap extension is a modern technique to fuse two or more DNA fragments. Two genes, appA coding for acidic phytase from E. coli B and the phyC coding for alkaline phytase from Bacillus subtilis, were successfully fused using a linker of five residues to form an overlapping primers.

Determining KCNJ11 E23K polymorphism in a group of Vietnamese population by restriction fragment length polymorphism method

The potassium inwardly rectifying channel, sub-family J, member 11 (KCNJ11), which is a pore-forming sub-unit of ATP sensitive potassium channels in pancreatic B-cells, plays a critical role in the regulation of insulin secretion. A non-synonymous E23K variant (SNP rs5219) in the KCNJ11 gene, which results from C to T transition and substitutes glutamate for lysine at position 23, is identified as a SNP associated with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Antifungal ability of some mangrove endophytic actinomycetes in Vietnam

The number and distribution of actinomycetes are very different in 10 species. In this study, 114 endophytic actinomycetes were isolated from 10 mangrove species in Giao Thuy, Nam Dinh: of which 44 strains were from their fruits, 40 from leaves, 21 from roots; 5 from trunks and 4 from flowers.
