Ewing sarcoma (ES) is sensitive to systemic therapy, including chemotherapy and anti-angiogenesis Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors(aaTKIs). However, the prognosis of patients with metastatic disease remains poor. Recurrence or distant metastasis after a complete response (CR) or near-CR due to systemic therapy is not rare.

Cytochrome P450 (CYP) and glutathione S transferases (GSTs) are important biotransforming enzymes responsible for detoxifcation of anticancer drugs and carcinogens. Polymorphisms in these enzymes may greatly influence the susceptibility to CML and overall efficacy of tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

Homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) is a molecular biomarker for administrating PARP inhibitor (PARPi) or platinum-based (Pt) chemotherapy. The most well-studied mechanism of causing HRD is pathogenic BRCA1/2 mutations, while HRD phenotype is also present in patients without BRCA1/2 alterations, suggesting other unknown factors.

The prognosis of patients with lung cancer who demonstrate pleural plaques intraoperatively, which may be associated with exposure to asbestos, is unclear. Here, we compared the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of these patients to those of patients without pleural plaques.

Although survival based outcomes of lung cancer patients have been well developed, institutional transition of cancer care, that is, when patients transfer from primary visiting hospitals to other hospitals, and mortality have not yet been explored using a large-scale representative population-based sample.

Body mass index (BMI) and cardiometabolic comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes have been studied as negative prognostic factors in cancer survival, but possible dependencies in the mechanisms underlying these associations remain largely unexplored.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a high degree of malignancy and a poor prognosis. Immune infiltration-related genes have shown good predictive value in the prognosis of many solid tumours. In this study, we established and verified prognostic biomarkers consisting of immune infiltration-related genes in HCC.

Cancer is the major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The cancer burden varies within the regions of India posing great challenges in its prevention and control. The national burden assessment remains as a task which relies on statistical models in many developing countries, including India, due to cancer not being a notifiable disease.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an often fatal malignancy with an extremely low survival rate. Liver metastasis, which causes high mortality, is the most common recurring metastasis for PDAC. However, the mechanisms underlying this liver metastasis and associated candidate biomarkers are unknown.

Glioma is one of the main causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide and is associated with high heterogeneity. However, the key players determining the fate of glioma remain obscure. In the present study, we shed light on tumor metabolism and aimed to investigate the role of tryptophan hydroxylase 1 (TPH-1) in the advancement of glioma.

A first pilot study showed that an image-guided navigation system could improve resection margin rates in locally advanced (LARC) and locally recurrent rectal cancer (LRRC) patients. Incremental surgical innovation is often implemented without reimbursement consequences, health economic aspects should however also be taken into account.
