Effect of morphology and (Sn, Cr) doping on in vitro antiproliferation properties of hydrothermally synthesized 1D GaOOH nanostructures

The morphology and doping levels were observed to have a collective effect on the anti-proliferation activity of GaOOH with specificity in treating certain cancer cells.

An integrated microfluidic concentration gradient generator for mechanical stimulation and drug delivery

The CGG provides cultured cells in the MCCC with four different concentrations of desirable inlet drug/chemical reagents. The MCCC is able to impose adjustable shear stresses, as well as osmotic pressure gradients on cell monolayers.

A novel fabrication of organic-inorganic hybridized GrapheneLa2CrFeW6 nanocomposite and its improved photovoltaic performance in DSSCs

The graphene-La2CrFeW6 fabricated with an organic-inorganic based CE was also found to be more efficient than those reported in previous works, in which graphene, produced by various methods, was used as a CE material.

Improvement of organic solar cell performance by multiple plasmonic excitations using mixed-silver nanoprisms

Excellent organic dye adsorption capacity and recyclability of hydrothermally synthesized a-Fe2O3 nanoplates and nanorices

The excellent C.R. adsorption capacity of the a-Fe2O3 nanoplates was further confirmed by conducting experiments with a solution containing a mixture of dyes. Our findings indicate that the synthesized a-Fe2O3 nanoplates have a great potential in removing industrial waste, such as C.R. from polluted water.

Jute cellulose nanocrystal/poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide-co-3- methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) hybrid hydrogels for removing methylene blue dye from aqueous solution

The prepared hydrogel showed a significant swelling at a ratio of 16 g/g in deionized water. In good accordance with the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, a maximum adsorption value of MB onto the hydrogel was achieved 131.58 mg/g.

Ultrashort-term dual ultraviolet-irradiated nickel-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticle mesh for photocatalytic disinfection with minimum exposure risk to human health

The results suggest that the improved NP characteristics on a steel mesh substrate, including multi- and mixed metal oxides, can display photocatalytic antibacterial activity against E. coli along with minimization of NP exposure due to NP immobilization.

Facile synthesis of polypyrrole coated graphene Gr/AgeAg2O/PPy nanocomposites for a rapid and selective response towards ammonia sensing at room temperature

This work demonstrates the fabrication of a highly selective ammonia (NH3) gas sensor based on Graphene/SilvereSilver Oxide/Polypyyrole (Gr/AgeAg2O/PPy) nanocomposite. To archive this objective, a cost-effective, room temperature mediated solution-based synthesis of Gr/AgeAg2O/PPy nanocomposite was exploited as an efficient performance NH3 gas sensor through combining the exceptional electrical characteristics of Graphene and sensing abilities of AgeAg2O/PPy.

Orange-red emitting praseodymium doped yttrium-molybdate nanophosphors for multifunctional applications

The average correlated color temperature analysis indicates that the Y2MoO6:Pr3þ NPs can be useful for use in warm light sources. The Y2MoO6: Pr3þ (5 mol%) NPs were used for the design of anti-counterfeiting ink in security applications. The tunable properties of the prepared Y2MoO6:Pr3þ NPs make them suitable for multifunctional applications.

Tailoring optical and resistance properties of the functional CuAlxOy semiconductor for applications as thermal infrared imagers

This is the first report on the optical and resistance properties of copper aluminum oxide thin films for applications as thermal infrared imagers. The deposition of these films was investigated under three series of reactive magnetron sputtering conditions.

Heterostructure of TiO2 and macroporous silicon: The simplest relaxation oscillator

The dielectric characteristics of TiO2 (capacitive behavior) in combination with the tunnel diode characteristics of the heterostructure (presenting a negative differential resistance, when activated at a threshold voltage) are shown to give rise to the relaxation oscillations.

An ultrahigh selective uric acid sensor based on SrWO4 nanocomposite using pomelo leaf extract solubilized Nafion modified glassy carbon electrode

In this study, we demonstrate a facile approach for the synthesis of strontium tungstate (G-SrWO4) using Pomelo leaf extract via the sonochemical method. The electrocatalytic performance of G-SrWO4 solubilized Nafion (Nf) (G-SrWO4/Nf) modified GC electrode was evaluated for uric acid (UA) detection.

Novel beeswax-chitosan/Zinc-hydroxyapatite biocomposite porous scaffolds: Preparation and biological evaluation

The biocomposite demonstrated upgraded swelling and antibacterial activity. The addition of ZnHAP accomplished the antibacterial activity. Biocompatibility studies were carried out using osteoblast cells and thus we proved the non-toxic nature of the biocomposite. Osteoblast cell adhesion investigations demonstrated that the cells were appended and infiltrated into the inside of the biocomposite.

Excellent photocatalytic activity of ternary Ag@WO3@rGO nanocomposites under solar simulation irradiation

The significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity was assigned to the combined synergy effects of the electron-reservoir of Ag and the highly absorptive r-GO with the visible-band gap WO3 semiconductors, which suggests a promising procedure to construct ternary nanocomposite-based high-performance photocatalysts under the solar light.

Fabrication of flux supported SrTiO3:Eu3þ fluorescent powders: New prospective of dual mode, ink-free data security applications

In the present paper, various fluxes assisted Eu3þ doped SrTiO3 nanophosphors were prepared via a solution combustion route. Among all fluxes, NH4F was found to be an appropriate one, which can reduce the forming temperature, improve morphology and enhance the luminescence intensity by two-fold to that of without added flux.

Q-switched pulsed laser direct writing of aluminum surface micro/ nanostructure for triboelectric performance enhancement

The micro/nano surface structure of triboelectric layers possesses a critical impact on the performance of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG). Here, we present a solution for the enhancement of the triboelectric performance by utilizing a Q-switched Pulsed Laser (QSL) that directly writes on an Aluminum surface in the net configuration.

Applied electric field analysis and numerical investigations of the continuous cell separation in a dielectrophoresis-based microfluidic channel

It revealed that the optimal conditions of the device are suitable to effectively separate CTCs from red blood cells (RBCs) within the channel structure, with a high flow rate of 1.5 mL/min, and an electric amplitude as low as 10 Vpp, at the frequency of 1 kHz. The proposed method has shown potential as a simple, easy-to-operate, and low-cost approach enable to enhance the diagnosis systems for cancer detection at early stages.

Centella asiatica mediated solution combustion synthesis of a novel Pr3þ doped Lanthanum Oxyfluoride for display and visualization of latent fingerprints and anticounterfeiting applications

The structural and optical characterization of the nanophosphor is described. The nanophosphor shows a prominent emission in the red region. The concentration dependence of the Pr3þ luminescence is investigated. The Photoluminescence analysis, CIE and CCT coordinates suggest that phosphors derived from LaOF: Pr3þmight a probable application for white LEDs.

Investigation of photocatalytic and antimicrobial activities of BaWO4-MoS2 nanoflowers

The nanocomposites exhibit a flower-like morphology with the required elemental composition of Ba, W, O, Mo and S. The photocatalytic activity of the BaWO4eMoS2 nanocomposites (75 mg) for dye (20 mM) removal is 95% upon a solar light exposure in 80 min. The photocatalytic reactions were found to obey the pseudo-first-order kinetics according to the LangmuireHinshelwood model.

Post-annealing effect on the structural and optical properties of electrophoretically coated 2D-Layered MoSe2

The samples annealed at 150 C and 250 C showed a better optical absorption in the visible and the near infrared spectral regions with dominant characteristic peaks at 691.2 nm and 801.6 nm. Further studies assured that the EPC process yielded good quality and large area MoSe2 films with exotic structural, optical and nanomorphological characteristics that are highly suitable for functional devices.

Fabrication of an injectable acellular adipose matrix for soft tissue regeneration

The evidence for a complete cellular remnant removal was shown through Hematoxylin and Eosin staining and DNA measurements. The AAM powder was prepared by mechanical disruption under reduced temperatures, which resulted in an AAM particle size in the range of 100 mm. In vitro cytotoxicity testing via extraction demonstrated that AAM had no toxicity on human adipose derived stem cells (hADSCs).

Enhanced photoluminescence, electrochemical and photocatalytic activity of combustion synthesized La10Si6O27:Dy3þ nanophosphors

The solution of paracetamol and sildenafil (Penagra) was effectively sensed using modified carbon paste electrodes. LNPs showed a good photocatalytic activity (PCA) for Orange Red (OR) dye under UV light irradiation. These results indicate that the synthesized LNPs are a good candidate for displays, waste water treatment and for the use as electrochemical sensors.

Toughening of ZrB2-based composites with in-situ synthesized ZrC from ZrO2 and graphite precursors

The fracture toughness of the composites showed a reverse trend. By adjusting the graphite content to 6 wt%, excellent control of microstructure could be achieved for the prepared composites with a higher amount of ZrC and lower content of other unfavorable phases.

On the magnetic nanostructure of a Co-Cu alloy processed by high-pressure torsion

In this study, a preparation route of CoeCu alloys with soft magnetic properties by high-pressure torsion deformation is introduced. Nanocrystalline, supersaturated single-phase microstructures are obtained after deformation of CoeCu alloys, which are prepared from an initial powder mixture with Co-contents above 70 wt.%

Semiconductor/relaxor 0e3 type composites: A novel strategy for energy storage capacitors

The polarization-electric field (P-E) loops reveal the ferroelectric nature of the BZCT/ZnO composites. The energy storage properties of BZCT/ZnO composite ceramics as a function of different wt. % of ZnO are found to be optimum at 1 wt. % with a recoverable energy density of 2.61 J/cm3 and an efficiency of 74.2%, at an electric field of 282 kV/cm

In-vitro antibacterial, antioxidant and cytotoxic potential of gold nanoparticles synthesized using novel Elaeocarpus ganitrus seeds extract

In the present study, we have follwed the hydrothermal path for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) from the biomaterial Elaeocarpus ganitrus seeds extract, which is a rapid, eco-friendly, non-chemical way. The prepared NPs were thoroughly analysed by powder x-ray diffraction and high resolution transmission electron microscopy studies and were also tested for anticancer studies.
