As a result, starch treated by solvent with different concentrations tended to form wrinkles and pore from the surface to the inside of the starch granules during ethanol immersion. Therefore, the oil and water holding capacity, solubility, swelling and viscosity of the solvent-treated starch samples increase as the concentration of ethanol increases.

Results showed that increasing in rotational speed from 0 rpm to 200 rpm converted cellulose-producing cells to non-cellulose-producing ones, leading to a significant decline in BC film formation. The increase in initial inoculum size from 0.01 g/L to 0.1 g/L reduced sugar concentration and surface area of the medium, and therefore inhibiting the formation of film-like cellulosic biomass.

The characterization of the biological properties of Chilean polyfloral honey was centered on their antioxidant and antibacterial activities. For this purpose, a significant number of samples were selected to evaluate their biological properties. Additionally, the identification of honey constituents was carried out using a complementary mass spectrometry technique (GC–MS), which allowed to find some 25 different compounds in the analyzed honey.

The CV weed could be fed as a supplement to a poor-quality forage or fed solely without any negative effects. Feed intake, nutrient utilization, and gain can be improved when the weed is offered. The supplementation of cassava chips as a source of readily fermented carbohydrates to the weed has the potential to effectively improve nutrients utilization and benefits for lowering urinary N loss. A further study is needed to evaluate the effects of the weed on CH4 production and rumen fermentation characteristic.

Soil type is a vital determinant of soil fertility because of its characteristic biological, chemical, and physical properties. However, the soil fertility of upland soil is probably changed by different agricultural management practices regardless of soil type. This study investigated the features of soil fertility (bacterial biomass, total carbon (TC), and total nitrogen (TN)) in upland fields in Japan. One thousand soil samples from different soil types were collected from upland fields located on 36 prefectures in Japan.

In this study, the adult male B. polychresta as a model to evaluate the exposure risks in soil insects inhabiting three different agricultural locations. The HMs concentration and contamination indices within the soil and beetles from study sites were assessed. Moreover, the enzymatic changes and TPc were evaluated in the beetle tissue (gut, fat body, and testis) in these sites. Furthermore, we check the possible relationship interactions between enzyme activities; against HMs accumulation in the whole body tissue of beetles.

This review provides new insight into the RFI and its relationship with productive traits in different species of poultry. In poultry breeding programs, use of the RFI in selection procedures as a negative trait must be adopted to produce an efficient breed with low feed costs and high productivity. From the point of view of an environmental perspective, selecting birds with lower RFI reduces emissions of ammonia and greenhouse gases from poultry houses.

The purpose of our study is to identify native pollinators of watermelon and the yield enhancement potential of managed honey bees and stingless bees. Specifically, we asked the following questions: (i) Which are the most effective pollinators? (ii) Is there any pollination limitation (i.e. insufficient pollen transfer to stigma for optimum fruit set) of the plant species within the study areas? (iii) Is there any inbreeding depression? (iv) Which one is more suitable between the western honey bee (A. mellifera) and the stingless bee (T. iridipennis) for sustainable agriculture considering the negative influences on native pollinators?

The present study hypothesized that ruzigrass seed treatment and sowing density and period influence seed germination and seedling establishment and that physical and/or allelopathic effects of the leaves and petioles of soybean cultivars are a major factor for interseeding success. To test these hypotheses, the influences of seed treatment, sowing density, time, and soybean cultivar on the emergence of ruzigrass seedlings in a soybean interseeding system were evaluated with the aim of mitigating environmental effects in the establishment of forage in succession to soybean.
