Moringa is one of the important vegetable in the human diet of south Indian people. But it is having short shelf life of maximum 3 days at ambient condition with freshness, firmness and retains its nutritional quality. So we are in need to extend the shelf life of Moringa. The investigation was under taken in Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam during 2010-2011.

An economic analysis of changes in the per capita nutrient intake and nutritional inadequacy in Tamil Nadu, India

Evaluation of safety of street foods in delhi using a HACCP approach
Street foods are an important part of urban diets for the low and middle income group as they are readily available and low cost. Safety of these street vended foods is of vital importance from the public health point of view in developing countries like India. A total of 148 street food stalls in fives zones of Delhi were surveyed using an observation checklist to document available foods, physical condition of vending location, food preparation and handling practices and personal hygiene of street food vendors.

Cross-sectional study of hand hygiene practices and comparison of microbial flora of dominant and non-dominant hand amongst health care personnel
Hand hygiene is considered as the most effective method of controlling health care related infections. The present study was conducted to determine the awareness of hand washing among Health care personnel (HCP) and to compare the microbial flora of dominant and non-dominant hands of HCP. Sixty-nine HCP were interviewed using a pre-validated questionnaire regarding compliance of hand washing practices. Their dominant hand was noted. Using the sterile pre-moistened swab sticks sample was collected from both hands of HCP and cultivated on Blood Agar.

Acceptability scores and enhancement of nutritional quality parameters of buttermilk enriched with pomegranate peel powder
Fit and fine health is an asset in modern world. A diet sufficient in quantity as well as quality is required for a good health. Macro and micronutrient deficiencies, inadequate nutritional awareness affect the lives of western nation less dramatically than those are the citizen of developing countries. The grave situation by overpopulation and underproduction of food on international level is well documented. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to overcome the ill effects of nutrition related problems with improving the quality of life by the judicious use of pomegranate peel powder in conventional preparation.

Prevalence of HCV infection in newly-diagnosed HIV patients in the city of Belém, Pará, Brazil: A preliminary report
Little is known about the prevalence of immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) co-infection in the North region of Brazil. This study aimed to describe the seroprevalence of HCV infection in newly-diagnosed patients with HIV in Belém, Pará. A cross-sectional study was conducted between May 2016 and June 2017, which enrolled 185 individuals. Data collection involved the use of a questionnaire and the collection of blood sample for anti-HCV screening. Results indicated only a single individual who was seropositive for both HIV/HCV infection, which is considered a very low prevalence (0.5%) when compared to other Brazilian regions.

Study on the health impact from beehive coal stoveusage in households in Hoan Kiem, Ha Noi
The combustion of biomass and coal significantly contributes to the total health burden due to the emission of gaseous pollutants and particulate matter. To determine the personal exposure related to beehive coal stove cooking in Hanoi, an assessment study on 120 females in three wards (Tran Hung Dao, Phuc Tan, and Chuong Duong) of Ha Noi city, Viet Nam was conducted. Personal and ambient concentrations of PM2.5 and CO (upwind, nearsource, far-source) were simultaneously measured twice a day at each household by PATS++ equipment developed by Berkeley Air Monitoring group. The concentrations of PM2.5 in the three wards were in the range of 10-186, 12-441, 9-59, 3-271, and 9-260 µg/m3 while those of CO varied from 100-3,000, 300-260,000, 200-29,000, 300-255,000, and 2,000-36,000 µg/m3 , for upwind, near-source, far-source, indirect exposure, and direct exposure samples, respectively. The estimated COHb% for the directly exposed group was higher than the indirectly exposed group in the three wards. Consequently, the directly exposed group was suffering a higher risk. All directly exposed respondents and 75 % of indirect ones were experienced COHb% calculated in blood exceeding the safe threshold for the health of WHO guidelines. There has been increased risk for both exposed groups if the coal beehive stove placed indoor. The calculated levels of incremental life cancer risk (ILCR) posed by PM2.5 in the three wards varied from 1.5E-06 to 3.6E-06 daily, indicating moderate cancer risk to the community that should be studied further to protect public health.

Non-dairy probiotics – An emerging trend in health care products
The beneficial effects of consuming probiotics wouldn‟t have been possible without the extensive research for the past two decades. However, due to enhanced awareness and health consciousness among today‟s population, there is an emerging trend of counterparts and substitutes for dairy probiotics. Globally, the commercial market of dairy probiotics is on boom, however, the allergic reactions associated with the dairy ingredients and lactose intolerance in people has resulted in the extensive research and development of non-dairy probiotics, which prove to be beneficial for health conscious and allergy vulnerable population.

A study of factors influencing organic product on health and environment in hisar
In this paper factor analysis has been used to achieve the objective of the study. In the study, primary data has been collected with the help of semi-structured questionnaire from 200 respondents from Hisar district of Haryana. The factor analysis reveals six factors which are named as environment friendly, perception, hurdles, awareness and manufacturing.

Incidence and molecular characterization of staphylococcus aureus isolated from meat products
The presence of microorganisms in food is predictable, which causes significant threat to the public health. Staphylococcus aureus is one such foodborne bacterial pathogen that cuses various foodborne outbreaks worldwide. The incidence of S. aureus in food samples is common and it has been characterized as economically important foodborne bacterial pathogens. In the present study, the incidence of S. aureus was investigated in various ready to eat meat products (n=100) purchased from retail market in Chennai.

Children’s acceptability of mid day meal (MDM) food supplied from centralized kitchen - “Akshaya Patra” of Medak district
A present study was conducted on children‟s acceptability of mid-day meal (MDM) food supplied from centralized kitchen-“akshayapatra” of medak district in Telangana state. A multistage stratified random sampling was used for selection of schools in the selected districts. Altogether, 150 children (with an equal representation of boys and girls) studying from Class I to Class VIII, belonging to 3 schools were selected with reasonable distribution of MDM that enabled evaluating food in terms of its acceptability, quantity, quality, taste, texture and flavor.

Spectrum of public health significant and antibiotic resistant microorganisms isolated from mobile phones of meat and fish handlers of Tripura, India
Mobile phone is an extensively used precious integral part of our daily life, increasingly assuming the status of sources of pathogenic organisms for disease transmission. During the present study 150 swab samples were collected from mobile phones of chicken, pork, chevon, fresh and processed fish handlers, and street food venders of Tripura for isolation, identification of public health significant bacteria and its antibiogram. Out of 150 swab sample examined 97.33% and 40% mobile phones were found contaminated with pathogenic bacteria and fungi, respectively. 80% of processed fish handlers mobile phones were highly contaminated with fungi.
