Novel triazine-based colorimetric and fluorescent sensor for highly selective detection of Al3+

The complexation activity of NADO with various metal ions in an ethanolic solution is specifically studied by means of fluorescent spectra. The NADO exhibits a significant fluorescence enhancement at 469 nm in presence of Al3 þ due to the formation of a complex.

The TiO2-graphene oxide-Hemin ternary hybrid composite material as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the degradation of organic contaminants

TiO2-Graphene Oxide-Hemin (TiO2/GO/Hemin) ternary composite hybrid material was prepared by the sol-gel method and used as a heterogeneous catalyst for the photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants. The catalytic activity of GO-TiO2-Hemin was evaluated by the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under the UV-visible light irradiation and in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.

The electrochemical behavior, antifungal and cytotoxic activities of phytofabricated MgO nanoparticles using Withania somnifera leaf extract

In the present paper, we report the phytofabrication of MgO NPs using W. somnifera leaf extract for electrochemical sensing and their antifungal as well as cytotoxic activity. We have chosen the W. somnifera, known commonly as ashwagandha, which is a plant belonging to Solanaceae family as reducing agent (fuel) in the preparation of MgO NPs.

Characterization of biopolymer electrolytes based on cellulose acetate with magnesium perchlorate (Mg(ClO4)2) for energy storage devices

Magnesium ion conducting biopolymer electrolytes have been prepared using cellulose acetate and different wt of magnesium perchlorate with DMF as a solvent by the solution casting technique. Asprepared membranes were subjected to different characterization techniques such as XRD, FTIR, DSC, ac impedance analysis and transference number measurement.

Effect of the ceria dopant on the structural and dielectric properties of ZnO semico nductors

All the samples exhibit a normal dielectric dispersion behavior, i.e. it decreases with increasing frequency due to the MaxwelleWagner type of interfacial polarization. The ac conductivity data was used to evaluate the maximum barrier height, the minimum hoping distance, and the density of localized states at Fermi level.

Microstructure tailoring for enhancing the energy storage performance of 0.98[0.6Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-0.4(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3]- 0.02BiZn1/2Ti1/2O3 ceramic capacitors

It is observed that the rhombohedral and tetragonal phases co-exist in BCZT-BZ samples sintered at different time periods, except the one sintered for 11 h, where the rhombohedral and pseudocubic phases co-exist. The energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) revealed the presence of the elements constituting the BCZT-BZ samples.

Nanostructured zinc aluminates: A promising material for cool roof coating

In the present study, we report on the synthesis of nanocrystalline phase pure ZnAl2O4 by a simple citrate solegel method. The materials annealed at different temperatures have been characterized for their structural and optical properties. The near infrared reflective properties of the samples are emphasized for use as solar reflective materials.

Green synthesis of AgeZnO nanoparticles: Structural analysis, hydrogen generation, formylation and biodiesel applications

The present work reveals the green combustion preparation of the Ag-doped ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) using turmeric root extract as a fuel. The structure and morphology of Ag-doped ZnO NPs were investigated by several analytical techniques such as XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared), Raman, XPS (XRay Photoelectron Spectroscopy), and UV-Visible Spectroscopy (UVeVis).

Electrophoretic deposition of reduced graphene oxide thin films for reduction of cross-sectional heat diffusion in glass windows

Characterization and magnetic properties of hollow a-Fe2O3 microspheres obtained by sol gel and spray roasting methods

In this work, we characterize the hollow hematite (a-Fe2O3) micro spheres obtained by two non-template techniques: Sol gel and, spray roasting process. Both techniques allow the production of high yield hollow hematite spheres up to 100 g for the case of sol gel and up to 500 kg for the case of spray roaster process.

Effect of pH values on structural, optical, electrical and electrochemical properties of spinel LiMn2O4 cathode materials

In the present work, by keeping in view of the above, we present a systematic investigation on the structural, optical, electrical and electrochemical properties of spinel LiMn2O4 cathode materials synthesized via the sol-gel technique under optimal conditions at different pH values (3, 6 and 9) without any surfactant for the application of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.

Novel gomutra (cow urine) mediated synthesis of silver oxide nanoparticles and their enhanced photocatalytic, photoluminescence and antibacterial studies

This work successfully synthesizes silver oxide (Ag2O) nanoparticles (Nps) using cow urine. The presence of different biological components in cow's urine may act as fuel for the synthesis of Ag2O Nps by a combustion method at 500 0C. This is a rapid and environmentally benign procedure, which has the added advantage of shorter response times and better control over size and shape.

A facile synthesis of graphene/ Co3V2O8 nanocomposites and their enhanced charge storage performance in electrochemical capacitors

The electrochemical capability for the charge and energy storage of supercapacitors can be augmented by fabricating the hybrid and binder-free electrodes. In this work, the novel graphene/Co3V2O8 micropencils nanohybrids were successfully developed via the one-pot solvothermal method.

Studies of proton conducting polymer electrolyte based on PVA, amino acid proline and NH4SCN

Evaluation of catalytic activity of MeOx/sepiolite in benzyl alcohol oxidation

The structural characterization showed a fine distribution of MeOx metal oxides on magnesium silicate nanobars. The sepiolite-loaded-metal oxide catalysts have been screened for the partial oxidation of benzyl alcohol and shown a good conversion and a very high selectivity to benzaldehyde at mild conditions.

The effects of shape-setting on transformation temperatures of pseudoelastic shape memory alloy springs

Since shape memory alloy (SMA) wires can hardly ever be reliably employed under compressive loadings, SMA springs are developed as axial actuators with the ability of withstanding both tension and compression. In this paper, shape memory alloy helical springs are produced by shape-setting two types of wires: One with shape memory effect (SME) and the other with pseudoelasticity (PE) at the ambient temperature.

Magnetocaloric effect and critical behavior in Fe-La-Zr rapidly quenched ribbons

A thorough analysis on critical exponents around the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic phase transition, using the ArrotteNoakes plots and KouveleFisher method, sheds light on the critical magnetic behavior and its association with the magnetocaloric effect in the Fe-La based alloys.

Glycine-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of NiCo2S4 as an active electrode material for supercapacitors

Nickel cobalt sulfide (NCS) was synthesized from nickel and cobalt nitrate (NCS-1) by a hydrothermal method. In another method, nickel cobalt sulfide (NCS-2) was also synthesized from hydrothermally synthesized nickel cobalt oxide (NCO). The syntheses of NCS-1 and NCO were conducted in the presence of glycine as a templating agent.

Epitaxial growth of Ce-doped (Pb,Gd)3(Al,Ga)5O12 films and their optical and scintillation properties

Се-doped (Pb,Gd)3(Al,Ga)5O12 single crystalline garnet films were grown using liquid-phase epitaxy from four series of supercooled PbOeB2O3-based melt solutions on Gd3Ga5O12 and Gd3Al2.26Ga2.74O12 single crystal substrates. This study reports the optical and scintillation properties of (Pb,Gd)3(Al,Ga)5O12:Се films grown via LPE from supercooled PbOeB2O3-based melt solutions.
