Dynamic behaviour of nuclear island structure of AP1000 under El Centro and Dien Bien earthquakes

This paper presents a seismic analysis of the AP1000 nuclear island structure by using the computational finite element software ANSYS. A 3D finite element model for the structure is developed and its dynamic response, including the time histories for displacements, velocities and accelerations, deformed configurations and von Mises stresses of the structure are obtained for America El Centro (6.9 Richter) and Vietnam Dien Bien (5.3 Richter) earthquakes.

Identification of some nucleotide mutations in Waxy gene (BGIOSGA022241) of a mutant rice line

Waxy genes of the original variety and its mutant type were sequenced by Sanger method and compared through Nucleotide Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLASTN) to clarify differences. BLASTN result showed four nucleotide mutations in coding regions and 59 nucleotide mutations in noncoding regions.

Hydrothermal synthesis and characteristics of lanthanumdoped pb(Zr0.65Ti0.35)O3 ceramics

Using a delayed coincidence counting system to determine 223Ra, 224Ra in seawater sample

A Radium Delayed Coincidence Counter (RaDeCC) includes 3 channels ( 223Ra channel, 224Ra channel, and total channel). It has been newly designed and assembled at Nuclear Research Institute. To determine 223Ra and 224Ra in seawater samples, the system efficiency at all 3 channels were investigated and calibrated.

Calculation of response functions for cylindrical nested neutron spectrometer

In a recent work, a new neutron spectrometer, namely Cylindrical Nested Neutron Spectrometer (CNNS). It works under the same principles as a Bonner Sphere Spectrometer (BSS), except that different amounts of moderator around a thermal neutron detector are configured by adding or removing cylindrical shells.

Uncertainty quantification of RELAP5/MOD3.3 for interfacial shear stress during small break LOCA

The Best-Estimate Plus Uncertainty (BEPU) is applied as Deterministic Approach for safety analysis of Nuclear Power Plant using the system analysis code. Preperation of nanochitosan from radiation degraded oligochitosan for shelf life extension of strawberry

Oligochitosans (OCT) were prepared from chitosan (CTS) by gamma irradiation technique. The parameters affecting to the chitosan degradation were studied. And then, OCT nanoparticles wereformed using the method of tripolyphosphate (TPP) cross-linking. The effect of combined treatment with sodium dichloroisocyanurate and electron beam irradiation in controlling mold (Lasiodiplodia theobromae) on star apples

This paper reports the results on the predictions of behavior of AP-1000 nuclear reactor fuel rod under steady state operating condition by using FRAPCON-4.0 software. The predictive items were the temperature distribution in the fuel rod, including fuel centerline temperature, fuel pellet surface temperature, gas temperature, cladding inside and outside temperature, oxide surface and bulk coolant temperature; and gap conductance and thickness.

Characteristics of a gas-cooled fast reactor with minor actinide loading

This paper presents the neutronics characteristics of a prototype gas-cooled (supercritical CO2-cooled) fast reactor (GCFR) with minor actinide (MA) loading in the fuel. The GCFR core is designed with a thermal output of 600 MWt as a part of a direct supercritical CO2 (S-CO2) gas turbine cycle.

Calculation of critical core configurations of a research reactor using MTR, IRT-4M, VVR-KN fuel assemblies

This paper presents calculation results to determine critical core configurations and a minimum number of fuel assemblies (FAs) or uranium mass of a research reactor loaded with three types of FAs such as MTR, IRT-4M and VVR-KN. The MCNP5 code and ENDF/B7.1 library were applied to estimate characteristics parameters of the fuel types and the whole core.

Application of correlation pattern recognition technique for neutron– gamma discrimination in the EJ-301 liquid scintillation detector

Application of reverse osmosis at NPP and verification of the process for primary coolant treatment in temelín nuclear power

Drained primary coolant from nuclear power plants containing boric acid is currently treated in the system of evaporators and by ion exchangers. Reverse osmosis as an alternative process to evaporator was investigated. Using reverse osmosis, the feed primary coolant is separated into two output streams: retentate and permeate.

Study the influences of the radionuclide depth distributions on the FEPE for the measurements of the soil activity using in situ HPGe gamma spectrometry

Effect of oligochitosan supplementation on growth and innate immunity of striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) at pond culture

Oligochitosan (COS) was prepared by gamma Co-60 irradiation of chitosan/H2O2 solutions and mixed with cornstarch to form the powder with content of 100 000 mg COS/kg. The striped catfish (P. hypophthalmus) was fed with diets containing 100 mg COS/kg feed for 9 months at pond culture.

The international calibration procedure for B3 film dosimetry system to ensure the quality irradiated products by 10 MeV electron beam accelerators at VINAGAMMA

The results revealed that the relative deviation between the values of absorbed doses obtained with our dosimeter and the transfer standards dosimeter measured by HDRL was within the acceptable limitation (about ± 3.0 % in the target range of 2.0-10.0 kGy). And post-irradiation stability of B3 film dosimeters was still maintained after 180 days storage.

Preparation of chitosan-glucosamine derivatives (Maillard reaction products) by gamma Co-60 irradiation method and investigation of antibacterial activity

The mixture solutions of glucosamine and chitosan with different molecular weights (123.5; 40.7 and 6.1 kDa) were irradiated by Co-60 gamma ray at dose of 50 kGy to prepare chitosanglucosamine Maillard reaction products (MRPs). The formation of MRPs was determined by measuring UV absorbance (at 284) nm and browning (at 420 nm).
