DASHEW CENTER (DCISS) APARTMENT PACKAGES SPECIAL APARTMENT PACKAGES FOR UCLA INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DCISS has teamed up with several of our Corporate Sponsors to provide UCLA international students with reasonably-priced, luxury living situations. Wouldn’t it be great to know that you have a fully-furnished apartment waiting for you here in Los Angeles before you even leave your home country? One of the biggest complaints and concerns of new international students is that they are overwhelmed with the process of finding housing in Los Angeles. Searching for an apartment in L.A. can be quite overwhelming to navigate, even for an American. The Dashew Center wants to help make that process smooth and stress-free. Please keep in mind while reviewing the packages that a majority of UCLA students live multiple people per bedroom to make living in Westwood affordable. All of our packages reflect that culture by having two people per room (called “Shared Rooms”). The following guide will introduce two simple apartment packages from which you can choose. DCISS did all the hard work to locate the BEST properties with GREAT amenities and COMPETITIVE PRICES. To top it off all the units will be fully furnished and include utilities upon arrival! We begin accepting interest forms for the 2012-2013 school year starting March 1, 2012. We have limited spaces available. Registration is first-come, first serve! Once we confirm that we have space available for you in your preferred package and move-in date, you need to complete an application and pay a $300 non-refundable deposit to hold your space. Is there a deadline to register for one of these apartment packages? There is no set “deadline” for applying for one of the packages, however, there are LIMITED units available. We strongly encourage you to apply EARLY in order to ensure that packages are available. Interest forms will be accepted startingMarch 1, 2012 for the Summer/Fall and all you need is your application, letter of acceptance to UCLA and $300 non-refundable deposit to hold your spot. You DEFINITELY want to applyas close to March as possible as our units will sell out! 2. When does my lease begin? Leases will start at the dates listed below so you can select the arrival time which is best for you. July 1, July 15, August 1, August 15, September 1, September 15, or October 1. 3. How can I lease an apartment from my home country? These packages are specifically designed for UCLA international students and, therefore, the managers are well-aware that you might need to arrange an apartment BEFORE you arrive to the U.S. You can fill out an application and put down a non-refundable deposit to hold the room. You can sign your lease online by June 1, 2012. 4. If I sign a 12-month lease but I want to leave early what do I do? You are responsible for the duration of the lease, however, “subletting” is allowed on these contracts. Therefore, if you know you need to leave your lease before the end of the contract you can find someone to replace you. You will need to collect the rent from your subletter and then continue to pay your rent to the property for the duration of your lease. After which time, the new tenant can sign their own lease. 5. Will these apartment package prices increase next year? No. The package prices listed in this document will remain the same for the next three years. 6. Why is it so expensive to live in Westwood? If there are four to a room that means the apartments are close to $2,900/month?!?! That’s exactly right. It is expensive to live in Westwood. It is VERY common for UCLA students to live multiple people per room in order for it to be affordable for students to live near campus. It’s also important to note that these apartments have been selected because they have great amenities as well like a pool, fitness center, parking and study space. 7. Are these packages for NEW international students only? The packages are designed to benefit new incoming international students. However, given that this is our first year we are testing out the program on returning students for the 2012-2013 school year. Therefore, ALL international students are welcome to take advantage of this program for this year only! 8. If I sign up for the program this year will I be kicked out next year to make room for NEW students? Even though we are going to reserve the packages next year (2013-2014) for only incoming students once you have joined the program you are “grandfathered” in and are welcome to remain in the program for the durationof your stay at UCLA. Each year you will have the option of renewing your current package or changing to a different package. 9. Will you ever offer cheaper packages or private bedrooms? It is our goal to continue to grow the program each year and add packages as we’re able. We have hopes of adding an additional package a few more miles from campus to make the rates even more affordable and a package option for those who prefer a private bedroom. 10. What happens if I sign my lease by the June 1, 2012 deadline and something happens over the summer which prohibits me from coming to Los Angeles? Once you sign the lease agreement you are bound by the terms of that contract. However, if you are no longer able to come to Los Angeles (for whatever the reason) you will be relieved of your obligation and will not be responsible for the terms of the lease. ... - tailieumienphi.vn
