RAPID HISTORY OF RUBBER IN CAMBODIA Projet Hévéaculture Familiale International workshop on Rubber Development - Vientiane, 09 - 11 May 2006 Projet Hévéaculture Familiale International workshop on Rubber Development - Vientiane, 09 - 11 May 2006 History of rubber in Cambodia I-Industrial rubber plantation ✦In 1969, the areas planted with rubber amounted to 70,000ha and production amounted to 52,000tonnes of rubber, all of it exported (concentrated latex, smoked sheets and specified granules). ✦The period from 1970-1980 because of war, much of rubber cultivation had been devastated. ✦From 1995 the national program of cutting and replanting rubber trees (10 years plan) was set up. ✦Nowadays, the total area of state-owned rubber plantation is about 40,000ha in which about 20,000ha was under tapping and production of around 20,000tons.
