Motivation and its types
Motivation: is an internal process beginning by a desire that drives us to achieve what we want.
Motivation can be divided into two basic types: Intrinsic or self motivation and extrinsic motivation.
Motivation involves the interaction between people and environment
Intrinsic motivation
It is defined as the desire of doing an activity for its enjoyable rather than for reward.
Examples:
- Reading a book because you really enjoy reading.
- Drawing pictures because you love art of painting.
Extrinsic motivation
Extrinsic reflects the desire of doing activities because of external factors such as rewards, promotion, money, praise.
Examples:
- He decides to work as sales manager because of above average salary.
- She write poems to be submitted to poetry contests.
