Sometimes, your teacher will assign you a topic,but other times you may get to choose the topic for your speech. If you get to choose the topic, pick some-thing you’re interested in, enjoy doing or talking about, or know a lot about. Either way, you will need todecide how you are going to narrow the topic and focus your speech. Think about the amount of time you have to deliver your speech and what is important for your audience to know about your topic.

The maximum time for Impromptu Speaking is seven minutes which includes both prep time and speaking time. There is a no grace period for this event, and students who exceed the time limit must be dropped in rank/rating
in preliminary rounds and disqualified in semi-finals and finals. Students may speak all seven minutes if they
desire, but must be penalized if they speak for less than four minutes.

To better understand how writing and speaking are used in the various majors, I have talked
with Chairs; visited classes, observing speeches and presentations; and solicited and read
written work from across the campus. Initial concerns/apprehension about WI and SI courses
that I encountered have diminished, as faculty have seen, I believe, that CAC wants to help
departments to identify and develop relevant, discipline-specific courses (rather than forcing
them to teach generic, and ineffective, writing and speaking exercises)....

For many immigrants to the United States, limited proficiency in the English language is a formidable challenge to both economic and social integration into their new home. Immigrants who speak English poorly are more superficially foreign than others, and this may contribute to their being discriminated against by U.S. natives. Moreover, immigrants with limited English proficiency might self-segregate, compounding this social and economic isolation.

speaking for kids requires personal coaching. Personal coaching includes the
development of self‐confidence and the effort on helping kids to improve their public speaking skills. For beginners it is important that they undergo this kind of learning to have a better public speaking approach.

We review the significant cognitive neuro psychological contributions to our
understanding of spoken word production that were made during the period of 1984 to 2004since the founding of the journal Cognitive Neuro psychology. We then go on to identify anddiscuss a set of outstanding questions and challenges that face future cognitive neuropsychological researchers in this domain. This study allowed pairs of English language learners, a class in Turkey and a class in Spain, to have synchronous audio communication over the Internet. One component of the study had a quasi-experimental research design with two English oral communication classes in turkey. The class who received CMC integrated instruction formed the experimental group and the class who followed regular English oral communication instruction constituted the control group.

ability of the Hmong qeej, a free-reed multiple pipe musical
instrument. Other forms of the qeej are used by various
Southeast Asian cultures, but only the Hmong appear to use it

The third huge change is what really moves an audience to act.
It used to be that you could give someone an article, and say, “If
you want this article, give me your business card. If you want to
sign up for a newsletter, give me your business card, or go sign
up on the Internet,” because people are being so inundated with
information, online newsletters and these kinds of things. They
are very reluctant to give up their personal information.
