MINDS HORIZON…Minding Your Business Live Your Life by Design What do you do today and tomorrow to make sure you are making the day as you want it to be? One morning I saw my son sitting still on the edge of his bed. In my family from the very time we jump right out of bed, until we sit down to have breakfast all together, there usually are no still moments. That’s why it catches my attention that morning, as I passed his room. He was sitting, looking down at his hands. Or at least that was what I thought. As I got closer I could see that he had closed eyes. Gently I sat down beside him and asked, “What are you doing, honey?” Very calmly he answered, “I’m just making sure that it’s gonna be a good day today”. I was so impressed. Right there! Wow. This fantastic young human being at the age of 10 years old, my son, got it all right. With no particular training. At the age of 10 he already understands that his thoughts, his focus of the day, are going highly influence what he is going to get out of it – experiences, successes and feelings. That he is the very architect of his own life. I saw this quote on Twitter some time ago, and I think it says it quite well: “Live your life by design, not by default.” That was a great reinforcement to me! We’ve got it in us – all of us. We can all do it. The only thing it takes, is that we each give it space in our lives, everyday; 2 minutes on the edge of the bed in the morning; 3 minutes before we go home from work; a couple of thoughts of tomorrow right before we go to bed or whatever suits you the best. Blaise Pascal says it a little bit differently: “Our achievements of today are but the sum of our thoughts of yesterday.” Do you want to have a good day tomorrow as well? What are you going to do to make sure that’s going to happen?
