This study was conducted to examine the perceptions of students at Hanoi Pedagogical University No.2 (HPU2) of extensive reading and learner autonomy as the first step of collecting information for a deeper investigation on the impacts of extensive reading on fostering learner autonomy. To achieve the objective, a questionnaire was sent among 178 first year non- English majored students.
