Vì thế, việc khảo sát lỗi phát âm của sinh viên vô cùng quan trọng nhằm tìm ra những biện pháp khắc phục những lỗi phát âm tiếng Anh giúp các em học tiếng Anh tốt hơn (bài viết có nghiên cứu thực nghiệm).

Cải thiện phát âm về âm nối và âm rút gọn của sinh viên không chuyên tại Trường Đại học Sài Gòn bằng các bài nhạc pop tiếng Anh
Phương pháp dạy phát âm về âm nối (liaisons) và âm rút gọn (elisions) qua nhạc pop tiếng Anh (English pop songs) sau 9 tuần thực nghiệm có khả năng cải thiện kỹ năng phát âm của sinh viên. Chủ thể nghiên cứu là nhóm thực nghiệm và nhóm đối chứng. Mỗi nhóm là 30 sinh viên được chọn từ 423 sinh viên năm 2 hệ cao đẳng ngành Giáo dục Tiểu học Trường Đại học Sài Gòn.

Communicative English grammar teaching to high school learners in Vietnam
In Vietnamese high schools, English is mainly delivered in grammar translation method to ameliorate student achievement in grammar-oriented examinations. In a long term, students suffer from fatigue and failure to communicate properly. This research aimed to apply the communicative approach in grammar teaching to improve students’ communicative competence and enhance their interest in grammar lessons.

Should Vietnamese EFL learners have English names
In this paper, I investigate the practice of selecting English names for Vietnamese EFL learners at a language centre. Although this naming practice is required at the institution for communicative convenience, there is negotiation and exceptions where learners refuse to use English names. Naming is believed to reflect one’s identity, and those learners explicitly indicate numerous reasons for their acceptance or refusal of having English names.

Some English stress mistakes and solutions - A phonetic experimental Research on Vietnamese Students
The combination of phonological knowledge with rhythm and English stress rules is one of the solutions for English stress problems facing Vietnamese students. From the phonetic experiment, some types of stress mistakes made by Vietnamese students were discovered. The hypothesis is that the English Rhythmic patterns and English stress rules will help students to solve their stress problems. However, the English stress rules are so complicated. Therefore, based on the main rhythmic pattern, the key for stress rules has been raised to simplify the way to recognize stressed syllables. The final target is to help Vietnamese students identify English words through different ways of stress placement in order to increase their pronunciation ability as well as catching the main idea in the conversation to improve their communicative skill in English.

Trying K-W-L strategy on teaching reading comprehension to passive students in Vietnam
In the project to discover the difficulties facing Vietnamese learners of English and the solution, being the Special Issue in the International Journal of Language and Linguistics, numbered 501024, reading comprehension is one of the difficulties to be discovered facing Vietnam learners, for which the solution discussed in this paper was analyzed to complete the project for the Special Issue 501024. Therefore, this study focuses on the importance of the Schema theory in reading comprehension. To prove the benefit of prior knowledge, K-W-L strategy was used as treatment in the experiment. The hypothesis was that the K-W-L method would help passive students improve their reading comprehension skill. The final target was trying to change students from negative attitudes to positive feeling towards reading class after the K-W-L method was used and to improve Vietnamese students’ reading skill as well as catching the main idea in the reading texts in order to have successful communication in English. As a result, the research has proved the effect of the treatment. It also suggested a way to control a reading class, to create an interesting and exciting atmosphere to improve students’ reading comprehension skill.

Thực trạng tự học tiếng Anh của sinh viên đại học trường Đại học Điều dưỡng Nam Định
Đây là nghiên cứu nhằm tìm hiểu thực trạng và những yếu tố ảnh hưởng đến việc tự học tiếng Anh của sinh viên đại học Trường Đại học Điều dưỡng Nam Định. Công cụ nghiên cứu được sử dụng là bảng câu hỏi khảo sát dành cho sinh viên và giảng viên, kèm theo phần thảo luận trực tiếp với sinh viên và phỏng vấn sâu dành cho các giảng viên. Kết quả thu được đã cho thấy, đa số sinh viên chưa tự giác trong việc tự học tiếng Anh bởi nhiều lí do và cần có những biện pháp đồng bộ để cải thiện thực trạng này.

Bài viết này sẽ giới thiệu mô hình của dự án VietSkype, nói chuyện với tình nguyện viên nước ngoài thông qua Skype, đã được áp dụng thành công tại Khoa Ngoại ngữ. Bài viết sẽ trình bày cơ sở lí luận về mô hình học tập ngoài lớp học thông qua phần mềm Skype, chỉ ra những lợi ích khi sử dụng phương thức lớp học này, từ đó đề xuất quy trình ứng dụng phần mềm Skype trong phát triển kỹ năng khẩu ngữ cho sinh viên trong hoàn cảnh dạy học của Việt Nam, đặc biệt là tại các cơ sở đào tạo đại học.

Students’ response to reading while listening graded stories activities
Recent research on listening while reading activities mostly focus on its effectiveness or comparison with other activities or adopt quantitative measures. The purpose of this qualitative action research is to investigate how and why first year students at Nam Dinh University of Nursing respond to reading while listening graded stories in English class. In this study, in order to triangulate the data, three data collection methods were used; namely, individual interview, group interview, and observation.
