Towards a low-carbon economic sustainable development: Scenarios and policies for Kazakhstan

This paper analyses analysis current and future dependence of agriculture, industry, oil and gas sector on water supply in Kazakhstan under varying socioeconomic and climate change scenarios. To conduct the scenarios analysis, a multiple linear model was used; the model has been widely used to examine complex water systems in the water resource planning sector all around the world. The paper results show that by 2050 total water demand under normal weather conditions could increase from 20188.62 m3 in 2015 to 23010.18 m3 under sustainable use scenario, to 26794.85 m3 under current trends (CT) baseline scenario, and up to 30220.46 m3 under the more resource intensive scenario, however, the future water demand may be affected by environmental changes.

The lead lag relationship between spot and futures markets in the energy sector: Empirical evidence from indian markets

The study aims at finding the intraday Lead-Lag relationship between Spot and Futures Market for Energy Sectors Stocks on which Single Stock Futures (SSFs) is available, by applying 1-min Price Returns for the period ranging from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2019. The study explores pricediscovery between stock futures and their underlying stocks by applying vector error correction model, Hasbrouck (1995) Information Shares, and Common Factor Component Weights of Gonzalo and Granger (1995). The findings indicate that trades in the Futures Market contribute more to Price-Discovery than Spot Market.

Synthesis of a novel polymer via the coupling reaction of cyanuric chloride and a di-amine

Polymers containing hydrogen bonds are of great significance as they have the potential to strengthen the mechanical properties of a material through non-covalent crosslinking, which is the basis for paint and self-healing materials. In this work we describe a method to obtain a novel polymer via the coupling reaction of cyanuric chloride and a di-amine. We investigate the reaction conditions to optimise the polymerization yield and molecular weight polydispersity. The polymerization process was characterised by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), and attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared (ATR FT-IR) spectrometry

Strategic energy partnership between Russia and China

During recent years the role of energetic security in Russia steadily increases. After deterioration Russian relations with West countries in energy sector stay single stable economic tool, which Russia use for the maintenance of impact in surrounding region. Instability of the importers market which is priority for the country, bounded with excitements about use by Russia theirs position on the energetic, markets for reaching political goal through the development of projects such as Nord Stream 2 and Turkish stream. In its turn in latest decade, Russia aspires to ensure solid positions in Siberia and Far East. Renewable energy, foreign direct investment and sustainable development: An empirical evidence

Renewable energy is replenished on a human timescale. The concern for the use of renewable energy is growing across the globe due to depleting nonrenewable sources and various environmental issues. We construct a model of sustainable development to demonstrate the causality and co-integration between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows and renewable energy consumption. We consider data of select 43 countries for the period from 2005 to 2017 and apply panel data analysis. The results reveal a unidirectional causality from renewable energy consumption to FDI inflows and the presence of a long-run relationship. Consequently, the constructed model will assist the government, non-government organizations, and companies in evaluating the significance of renewable energy and FDI inflows in sustainable development.

Price and volatility spillovers between crude oil and natural gas markets in europe and Japan-Korea

This paper provides empirical evidence on the price and volatility transmission among the main European (National Balancing Point and Title Transfer Facility) and the Japan-Korean Marker (JKM) gas markets with that of Brent crude oil market, a crude oil benchmark used in Europe and Asia. The paper provides evidence that there are no price spillovers among oil and gas in European gas hubs. The European markets, contrary to the JKM market, seem to be mature enough as in the case of the US gas market. Finally, the paper provides policy recommendations on key elements for establishing functional gas hubs.
