Perceptions of fundamental science: Evidence from a classroom experiment

This paper explores the attitudes of young science-outsiders (the taxpayers of tomorrow) by a pilot experiment involving 230 undergraduate students in economics at University of Milan. The experiment takes the form of a Contingent Valuation Referendum-like interview aimed at eliciting the willingness-to-pay (WTP) for the discovery potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the most powerful particle accelerator worldwide.

The relative impact of looks, income, warmth, and intelligence on female online dating preferences

Results were generally supportive of other work in finding that women tended to be most influenced by the physical appearance of the model. However, the non-physical features were also predictive of short-term mate choices, albeit in a somewhat weaker fashion.

Employability tracer study of information technology education graduates from a state university in the Philippines

This study aimed to determine the employability of Information Technology Education graduates from a state university in the Philippines. The researchers employed cross-sectional retrospective survey method. Onehundred seventy-seven out of 204 (or 86.76%) graduates of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from year 2015–2017 participated in this study.

The gap between competency self- evaluations and experienced pharmacists’ perceived competency evaluations regarding the Japanese 6-year pharmacy education programme

: This research suggests that the gap of competency evaluations that exists between experienced 4-YP pharmacists and 6-YP pharmacists could also occur between pharmacists and patients or other health workers. Therefore, we must identify the underlying reasons for this gap based on quality assurance indicators or a competency framework, and we finally must advocate for the role of pharmacists in Japanese society in near future.

In-service teachers’ knowledge of common features associated with disorders and developmental disabilities

Results indicate that teachers lack the knowledge of some features associated with disorders and developmental disabilities. Despite being common disorders in school children, teachers lacked necessary knowledge pertaining to LD and ADHD. This study also proposed an original tool for objectively measuring the teacher’s knowledge.

Use of self-regulated learning strategies Among Teacher Education students: A latent profile analysis

In the present study, we conducted a latent profile analysis to identify three clusters of Teacher Education students based on their reported use of self-regulated learning strategies. The sample comprised 527 undergraduate Teacher Education students (Mean age ¼ 22 years; SD ¼ 2.20) randomly selected from seven universities in Uganda. Data were collected using the modified Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire.

The role of nomophobia and smartphone addiction in the lifestyle profiles of junior and senior high school students in the Philippines

This study examined the prevalence of nomophobia and smartphone addiction among Filipino adolescents and their association with adolescent lifestyle profiles (ALPs). Furthermore, gender and grade (i.e., junior vs. senior high school students) differences in nomophobia, smartphone addiction, and ALPs as well as their differences in four nomophobia groups and among participants with and without smartphone addiction are determined.

Basic vs. Applied Psychology perspectives lead to different implications from the same data; reevaluating the impact of prior expectations on polygraph outcomes

The present study re-evaluates the same data from an applied perspective and finds that based on the 1994 study the estimated impact of prior expectations on real-life polygraph decisions has been greatly overestimated by polygraph opponents, and would in fact adversely impact just 3% of the total volume of polygraph examinations; not really enough to play any significant role against the use of CQT polygraph testing.

Sovereign debt and growth in Zambia: determining the tipping point

The study finds evidence in support of a non-linear relationship between sovereign debt accumulation and growth in Zambia. With regards to the debt-threshold effect, the tipping point for Zambia is around 40 percent of debt-to-GDP, at this point, the positive effect of debt on economic growth becomes negative. Far more importantly, policy recommendations are prescribed from these study findings.

The results indicated that social media networks are a useful tool for developing a personal brand, but communication and marketing specialists show an average involvement.
