From centralised planning to collaborative urban land use planning: The case of Wat Ket, Chiang Mai, Thailand

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss efforts, by local stakeholders, to apply collaborative urban planning as an alternative approach to urban planning in Wat Ket. In support of the collaborative urban planning experiment, land use analysis applying aerial photography and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) was used as a method for quantifying land use changes.

Understanding perceptions of quality among early childhood education stakeholders in Tanzania and Lesotho: A multiple qualitative case study

This paper explores how ECE stakeholders in Tanzania and Lesotho define ECE quality. Findings show that stakeholders define quality in similar ways, highlighting the importance of trained teachers who implement specific teaching practices, strong partnerships with families and the community, critical infrastructure, and government support.

Academics’ job satisfaction in Tanzania’s higher education: The role of perceived work environment

The results demonstrated that academic freedom, participative decisions, teamwork, supervision, and resources statistically significantly predicted academics’ job satisfaction over and above their marital status, gender, age, academic rank, and institutional type. This study has both practical and policy implications, and its findings contribute to the broader literature on the management and governance of higher education.

A secure online exams conceptual framework for South African universities

This study uses a literature review to understand academic fraud and respective security measures. Chatbot personality preferences in Global South urban English speakers

The first study involved having participants interact with the three chatbot personalities and then rate themacross the aforementioned domains, while the second study had participants view interactions with the different chatbot personality and provide reviews. The results strongly suggest that inserting an evident, fun personality into the chatbot can influence user experience across these domains.

Social TV viewers’ symbolic parasocial interactions with media characters: A topic modelling analysis of viewers’ comments

These results would suggest that popularity is grounded in reflection and judgement, and on viewers’ connecting the viewing experience with personal experiences. In terms of methodological implications, our innovative methodology, based on viewers’ real-time commenting as they watch TV series, opens up new avenues for research into parasocial behaviour in online environments.

Beliefs and opinions about the existence of life outside the earth: The UFO experiences questionnaire (UFO-Q)

The Factorial Analyses confirmed that UFO experiences can be represented based on four dimensions: Extraterrestrial Beliefs (C1), Extraterrestrial Experiences (E1), Fearful Extraterrestrial Beliefs (T1) and Form Beliefs (C2). The analysis of items suggested that these beliefs could present two cognitive models: On the one hand, there is the magical-divergent model (irrational thinking), and on the other hand, there is also the critical-divergent (rational thinking).

Beliefs about and perspectives of the criminal justice system of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities: A qualitative study

These findings suggest that people with I/DDs feel that they should be treated with more respect and their disability merits more attention in criminal justice interactions. These thoughts could prove helpful in reducing disparities in the criminal justice system.

Performance task assessment supported by the design thinking process: Results from a true experimental research

The results showed that the experimental group posted remarkably higher mean scores in the performance task and they significantly outperformed the control group. Academic background of Nobel prize laureates reveals the importance of multidisciplinary education in medicine

The results demonstrate that 49.5% of the laureates of Nobel prize in medicine have multidisciplinary educational background and 69% of their undergraduate majors are not directly in medicine. After removing the laureates who graduated from the countries that do not provide undergraduate medical education, the percentage is still as high as 52%.
