Soneplex® Loopback There are several ways which loopbacks can be placed in and on Soneplex units for extended testing of circuits. Listed are several ways of providing these loopbacks: 1. At the HLXR location, provide a physical cord loop from the Network “IN” to the “OUT” jacks on the face of the unit. This provides a hard loop to run any stress test the customer requires. Once testing is completed, this cord loop will have to be removed. 2. If a repair person is at the customer location, they can access the HLXR unit and from the Main Menu, go to the HLX Configuration screen and change the Loopback Time Out to “0” min-utes. Then, operate the loopback normally and the HLXR will stay in loop as long as the cust-omer wants to test the circuit. Once the testing is completed, release loop back. The Loopback Time Out can be changed back to 120 minutes any time after testing is completed. 3. If remote access is available, the central office and HiCap center are also capable of provid-ing loop on the circuit for testing. They would access the shelf and, from the Main Menu, go to the Unit Configuration Screen, HLX Configuration Menu and then go to the Loopback Configuration sub-menu. Next, change the Loopback Timeout Period to “0” minutes. Have the customer loop-up the circuit normally and perform desired test for as long as required. Once testing is completed, the Loopback Timeout Period should be changed back to “120” minutes. See example below. Another method of keeping loopback up for a extended period is by sending a Loopback Timeout Disable Code. The way this is done is as follows: Operate the loopback in the HLXR as normal. Once the loop is up, send the following 16-bit code for 5+ seconds to disable the timeout period. The 16-bit code is: 1101010111010110. Now the customer can run test for as long as desired. Once test-ing is completed, loop-down circuit normally and timeout period will revert back to stated time frame. 5. If a loopback is needed at the central office toward the network, this can be done in one of two ways, either from the central office or remotely from the HiCap Center in the following manner. The central office technician or the HiCap technician can access the Soneplex shelf and, from the main menu, go to System Maintenance, Loopback Status/Commands sub-menu, Low Speed Loopback Status/Commands and place a loop on the central office loop toward the network. They would then go to the Unit Configuration screens and set the Lpbk Timeout Period to “0” minutes. When testing is complete, the loop must be manually released by the technician. As an alternative, you can remotely access the circuit and send a HLXC Activation Code (11010011) and this will loop the HLXC toward the network. After the HLXC is looped, the Lpbk Timeout Disable Code must be sent to keep the loop active for as long as the customer requires the loop. To release the remote loop, use the standard loop-dn code.
