MEDIA RELATIONS MANAGER The Writers Guild of America, West is currently seeking qualified applicants with excellent writing and communications skills for the position of Media Relations Manager in the Public Affairs Department. This position is responsible for the management of external press relations for the Guild. The Media Relations Manager is a full-time, exempt position with excellent benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $56,493 - $75,524/yr. Under the general supervision of the Communications Director, the Media Relations Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of relations with media representatives, for facilitating and overseeing press events and department projects and for handling all media inquiries. Essential functions include but are not limited to: Frontline staffperson for all media inquiries; must handle multiple press calls • with demanding deadlines. Creates and maintains relationships with press and other media. • Writes articles and other collateral material for external publication; on • occasion drafts press releases. Pitches media on Guild campaigns. • Is responsible for and administers media relations projects as directed. • Serves as Guild representative at member, press or public events. • Is responsible for coordinating and executing press conferences, media • junkets, etc. Reviews and distributes daily media clips. • Plans, initiates and conducts research and analysis for various projects. • Is responsible for all publicity functions connected with the WGAW Awards. • Plays leadership role in the development and implementation of department • functions and programs. Attends committee meetings and provides support as needed. • Interacts with other departments to promote Guild objectives and to provide • Public Affairs support as needed. Assists in the development and implementation of department functions. • Provides research as needed for various projects. • Provides department support as needed on all projects. • Qualifications: Excellent writing and communication skills. • A degree in Communications (or comparable) is desired. • Minimum five years of experience in media relations and a familiarity with the • entertainment industry. Must be computer literate. •
  2. Must be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and be available • evenings and weekends as needed. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation. •
