About Everyday Gratitude
Little Gratitudes in the Every-Day Volume One
Beginning
I began my first day’s poems with the day I began, Thanksgiving Day.
My intent was simply to find something more every day about this special day, than I would usually feel, and see if it could be, might be, i hoped would be, even more meaningful, and more accessible.
The poem is, as I had hoped, simple, yet has much for me.
So I extended the holiday, something we like to do. ;-)
And watched to see what would happen.
Frankly, I was surprised.
And continue to be surprised, by the variety and range of what I can and am grateful for.
That surprise, I’m finding, is itself something to be grateful for.

Accessible
As mentioned in the Forward, these poems are mostly written in the late afternoon or early evening, and have become a kind of compliment to the poems in “A Month of Mornings.”
They are, I hope, what I’ve heard of other poems I like, accessible. Poems of the every day.

Thanksgiving to Christmas, 33 Poems
Though I began the poems of gratitude about the same time as the Month of Mornings poems, I wasn’t able to get them formatted and started at the same time, and so am including a few more than my planned month’s worth.
This works out well for this volume, as this way the holiday period from Thanksgiving to Christmas is represented.
