She is looking forward to celebrating her special day with friends and family. Her family owns a pizza parlor where they serve pizza and other food. Elena loves to go there after school because it always smells so delicious! Her mom and dad both work there, and they tell Elena that she can bring her friends to the pizza parlor. Elena heads to school with a big grin on her face, looking forward to the afternoon. Elena’s family and friends celebrated her birthday at the pizza parlor. Elena and her friends walk to the pizza parlor after school. She is confused at first because when she opens the restaurant door everything is completely dark. Suddenly the room lights up, and her entire family shouts, “Happy Birthday, Elena!” Elena’s family has decorated the restaurant for her birthday. Balloons and streamers are everywhere–on the backs of chairs and hanging from the ceiling. There is a giant Happy Birthday sign hanging over a big table.
